The "Mayan calendar" discussion really is very tiresome. On the one side we have the naysayers that profoundly declare their disbelief, with meticulously detailed reasoning. But then ... there is no other side. Of course you have the few, stray ignoramuses that don't give a moment's thought to second-guess miraculous claims, but no self-respecting individual who likes to understand what he believes will give this bogus misconception any merit. On 21 December 2012, the Mayan calendar is rolling over to the next b'ak'tun. There wasn't even a doomsday proclamation to begin with, just a misconception. People shouldn't need to argue with "leap years" to try and prove anything, because there is nothing to prove.

I reckon the dude got tired of carving the calendar so far into the future.
