Improving Guild Wars 2 connection speed to EU server

I used to play Guild Wars 2 on Aurora Glade a while back, but stopped due to latency issues (230ms average is not too bad, but I could not competetively play events such as Sanctum Sprint, Keg Brawl and WvW).

Anyone have any tips/fixes on improving latency speed to the EU server, or general tips on improving latency to overseas servers?

I've heard a few people mention that they used Battleping to help improve latency to overseas servers, however I've never tried it before myself. Might still be worth checking out though..
