Incredible Connection launches first Microsoft Store-in-Store in South Africa

And I quote
“Unlike online sales that require customers to do their own research by reading reviews as well as user forum comments, and watching YouTube reviews for instance, physical retail stores such as this new flagship store in Sandton, are driven by customer service.”

“This means that customers have access to expert sales staff who can assist them in purchasing the right offerings to suit their wallet and their needs.”

HAHAHAHAHAHA, Expert sales staff, HAHAHAHAHAHA. Stop stop, I'm going to wet myself.

I challenge each and every one to go to their closest IC store and inquire about a PC for gaming, a motherboard, a CPU or a graphics card. The idea is to not score any points, but points are awarded as follows :

"Please talk to the technical department" - 50 points
"I'll have to check with the technical department" - 40 points
"I don't know" - 25 points
Immediately pushing for a new Laptop or desktop when asking about parts - 100 points
Immediately suggesting a GTX 1080 or Titan - 75 points
Pushing i7 processors for gaming - 50 points
ignoring your requirements - 10 points
Suggesting a tablet - 10 000 points

Deduct 1 point for every R1 spent at the store. Lowest score wins.

(WOAH thats weird. I was replying with quote when your post didn't have the point thing added, but it was added in the quote....anyway)

Am I the only one who actually gets like uncomfortable and embarrassed on their behalf whenever I go into the shop to just have a look around (they have eye candy...i like tech eye candy, even if i'll never BUY anything from there)

Yes! Especially if I actually have a technical question, and am googling the answer in front of them. :D

Unfortunately, they do often have the best price on the older printer cartridges my printer use, so I'm forced to spend some money there every now and then. Begrudgingly. But when I (often) have to wait more than 10 minutes for one of the IC zombies to come and remove the anti-theft plastic thingy, I go and spend the R50 more at the Game.

Avatar the best ones I ever heard being uttered by IC staff.

Talking about an ADSL Router with Dual Band (2.4 and 5 GHz) WiFi : "Dual bands mean that you download at double the speed"
Answering a customer inquiring about an Anti Virus suite in addition to his MS Office purchase : "MS Office comes with built in virus protection"

My own personal interactions tend to follow this general trend :

Me : I'm looking for X
Sales Drone : Please speak to the technical department / I'll check with the technical department
Technical Drone : I'm not sure
Sales Drone : Can I interest you in Y?

Goodness, that's impressive. I actively have to fight the urge to go all Sheldon and start helping people myself when I'm in there.

I was helping someone pick out a new laptop during one of their trade-in deal thingies... I said go elsewhere, but he insisted.

So the sales guy tried selling him a Sempron laptop over and Athlon, because it has an exrta .1GHz, which means it is faster...

I bought a kindle there, it didn't work after 3months so I took it back.
They said they don't do the warranty On them. Had to call the U.S help line. Became such a run around I now own a square Frisbee.
