Inglorious Bastards

As a writer i can appreciate the dialog and i agree, its well writen but the main plot didn't make sense. It was disjointed and other times just didn't make any sense what so ever. I like his movies for the dialog and the unconventional approach to story telling. But tell me honestly what story was he trying to tell here. The story of a group of soldiers killing Nazi's coz i only saw a bit of that or a story about a plot to assassinate hitler and the Reich? Coz that bit i got but only barely. But to each his own.

This is the way I saw it:

SPOILER ALERT
There are two main stories. The first is the Jewish girl (Shoshana) who's family is killed by that dodgy General. She escapes and inherits the cinema owned by her aunt and uncle, and when the opportunity to kill those who knocked off her family (i.e. the General) lands in her lap she decides to burn down the cinema with them inside.

The second follows the Inglourious Basterds, the group of Jewish soldiers who aim to kill as many Nazis as possible in the most brutal ways in order to scare the crap out of Hitler and co.

Their stories coincide when the Basterds' plan to blow up all the high-ranking members of the Third Reich happens to take place at the same cinema owned by Shoshana.

Make sense?

SPOILER WARNING

It does but how much of the Bastards do we actually see? The bit with the bat and one or 2 flash back scenes nothing tangable to build their characters. The only two you have some connection with is Waldo and that German guy and he gets kills very abruptly. As for the french gurl i get that part but why the elaborate plot with the poor black guy having to light the film. The only person in the film you give a damn about is the French gurl and then she dies while the dick head general only gets a swasssticker carved into his forehead in a way that doesn't look real. I understand what he was trying to do but it felt too disjointed and confusing to appeal to a wider audience.

I advise you to do so and make your own judgement. It seems to be very much a love/ hate movie.

Exactly, and not that I don't trust the opinions posted here, my movie taste often does differ from others. So I'll make my own call on it.

Do yourselves a favour and watch "The Dirty Dozen" instead. Then again I think all Tarantino movies are a pile poo

You guys are mad.

This is Tarantino's best film since Pulp Fiction, and Hans Landa is his magnum opus. I was absolutely, thoroughly enthralled by the entire film, and I cannot wait to see it again.

I saw it thought it was very good. I think he is trying to prove that he can be less voilent and be more clever.

Heard some colleagues talking about it and they seemed to bounce between grossed out and impressed. I'll go give it a watch and see I suppose. Can't be worse than Public Enemies. Ick.

I have not seen it but would you say Deathproof was better? Im keen to see it. Tarantino movies usually have really long dialogues though

i'm in 2 minds now about watching the movie this w'end...

...maybe i should go in the morning, cause if it is 3hrs long and not in my taste, i wont fall asleep at least :D

SPOILER

What the movie needed was a steamy love scene between Marcel and the French chick instead of the goodbye kiss :) Maybe in the Director's Cut. Who knows.
