Installers

I was installing Red Alert 2 again, and it made me realise, you don't see those custom installers in games anymore instead of the boring installshield wizards. Why not? They always add some extra to the game and it's just some small that seems to make the whole experience of the game a little more enjoyable, It's like wearing sexy langere for a game.

What're your thoughts?

Going to have flapjacks tomorrow.

I loved the installer for Nox. It told the background story as it was installing as well as showing some pretty decent artwork of the game.

Nox was such an AWESOME game and yet it was overlooked.

Yeah and I managed to track it down from a 2nd hand shop for 40 bucks. Problem is it really hates windows 7, plays and all but when you try exit it freezes up and you have to exit it through task manager.

I think it's just so easy to use the packaging tools that come with development programs now that people don't bother to write their own installers, they just say create install package, and it's done.

PS, flapjacks sound awesome. How about a rofl waffle?

Yeah, that is one good example.

Just remembered Black and White 2 had this on the Lionhead loading screen. You could move the box around that had the black lion in to move all the black balls making the image around and shake them out the box. That was pretty cool.
