Installing Windows 7 from a Exeternal HDD

Has anyone done this before?

My dvd writer is not working 100% and it would save me a lot more time just installing Windows from my External Drive.

The files atm is in ISO, While I am just looking around if it can be done.
 
depends if you are running the operating system you want to upgrade over and what that operating system is. otherwise it can be done from a flash drive as well.
 
just look for netbook installation of windows. Most if not all netbooks dont have dvd drives and need to be installed like that.
 
It seems having My backup folder in the same place as the boot file for windows it does not want to work. So now I have to get dvds and write it on there and then install it.

So it seems it can be done but you need a clean drive with only the window installing files on it.
