Intel Motherboard Help

Hi Guys.

Awesome forum and enjoy the read.

I do hope I don't offend anyone by registering here and already asking for help.

A close mate of mine has an Intel motherboard DH67BL and he had an older i5 processor in. This worked fine till one day the processor decided to go pop. I did give him my intel i3 and as I read it is compatible with the motherboard on the latest firmware which his 1 does not have.

He does have extra cash to purchase a motherboard and I don't have a 1st or 2nd gen processor to be able to flash his motherboard's firmware.

If anyone can help and in the JHB area. Please let me know as I would really like to help him out.

Thanks in advance

I have / had the same motherboard.
My motherboard was improperly flashed and caused it to stop working so I had to get a new one.
Problem is the 1155 motherboards are getting in shorter supply as they are starting to be phased out.
What caused the improper flashing was because the guy tried updating the old firmware with the latest firmware so just as a by the way rememember to update it in order of the firmware releasing.
Now back on topic.
1st gen is socket 1156
2nd and 3rd gen is 1155
4th gen (current) is 1150.
As for JHB send The Joker a pm, he will gladly help you out.

Thanks for the help. I spoke to Rectron technical support who was awesome and willing to help. Only problem is i slipped and fell with the motherboard in my hand (No box) and bent the pins on the motherboard for the processor.

So now i feel guilty and I just ordered a Gigabyte motherboard for him.

Thanks for the response simon.
