Strangely enough no there is something smells fishy here, and ain't my socks.

Or Intel are being nice. Pfff.... and sand can be turned into gold.

Most likely is that it is not so high performing ans made out to be with all that fancy talk. I see it is an 35nm.

It's a different socket, so you're going to need a new motherboard. The older Core i series is 1156 and 1366 LGA sockets, this is LGA1155. I guess it depends on how old your pc is, for me it would make sense to get one of these, from the little I've read this is quite a bit faster than the previous gen.

Yes you're right, there is a catch and it's pretty insidious. The chips are coming with built in DRM, meaning digital media will be managed through the hardware. Copying movies will become more difficult.

The reason the chips are so cheap is because Intel will be able to claim royalties on digital movies sold using its DRM hardware. Low pricing is probably an attempt to shift more units, with hopes of reclaiming the shortfall later on, through digital sales.

Just my opinion, but here are two sources:

After just upgrading to i7 870 end of last year, I'll have to hang ten a bit.

Besides, I first want to see what is going to happen with this whole DRM thing. Will it be as bad as ll the doomsayers are predicting or is it merely hyped up beyond reason?

Hmmmmm....
Interesting.... even with the DRM being implemented, i rate that theres always gonna be ways around it
As well as how can they control things like new movies comming out and your not connected to the internet?
