Introduce yourself here...

Hi!

I'm emerahl and I am super socially awkward *waves*
I'm also reintroducing myself to the gaming world because I've spent the last 4 years with the worlds most retarded netbook that struggles with The Binding of Isaac (I mean COME ON!) aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I lived in Japan for a while so I feel /really/ out of the loop.

Cape Town is my home (for now).

Welcome emerahl

Hi! I've posted a few times before but never really introduced myself. I'm Nightfire (or any combination of letters and digits that might resemble it for the purposes of creating an account somewhere) and I've been a gamer since the C64 tape deck required me to press forward rewind forward play to load my Ghostbusters saved game.

My POISON is Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, but currently I'm getting some of that Mass Effect 3 action. My weapon of choice is the humble i5 3570K with 8 Gb Corsair RAM and a trusty Radeon 4850 that still does the job perfectly well thank you.

Howdy!

Hi, my name is flash_bang, came over to this Forum from MyBB where I'm a regular poster.

I'm a casual gamer, initially got my FPS kick off PC and have since migrated to PS3 (shakazulu187em)...right now my favourite game is MW3, and would love to get into online gameplay...currently play split-screen mode with friends when they come over.

Is a 1mb/s line even sufficient for online gameplay...tried playing last weekend, eventually managed to get onto one of the servers but was kicked out in no time.

Hey there flash.
A 1MB/s line is more than sufficient for online play. Is it Modern Warfare 3 where you were kicked?

It's totally sufficient (assuming it's an ADSL 1Meg line). I played for a years on a 384kbps line, and I didn't have a problem except when someone else wanted to use the internet :P It's more the latency in gaming that's a problem, not normally the line speed itself. ADSL provides the best latency and connection stability in general.

If you are playing on PS3 though, the problem will be that there are only international servers for these games and you will automatically be stick with a ~200ms latency. I hope this answers your question :D

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I'm on Axxess uncapped. Occasionally I also play Fifa 12 but that's not as frustrating an experience (although there's noticeable lag) as MW3 was...took an eternity to find a game, when I eventually managed to get the hang of it I was kicked out. Yes, the pings are quite high. Are there any better alternatives for online play on the PS3?

The problem with PS3 and fps is that most games is not hosted in SA. Unless I am mistaken? It is very difficult to play fps on console for that exact reason. It is not you ISP it is due to the connection to Europe
