A very valid point unfortunately. Somehow though I doubt any publisher would ever really bother to enforce this as it would simply not be cost effective as they would be targeting private individuals and not companies, well mostly and they could sue you for loss of revenue etc, but how much could they honestly expect to gain from Joe Soap? Also, if I never play a game online, but only ever use it offline, those that support it, and then sell it 2nd hand to you, the publisher will have a very hard time proving that I owned it first.
But to answer the threads question, yes, I suppose it is cheating according the the agreements that are in place when you purchase the product. Now my question is this: Do you care that is technically cheating? My personal answer. No.
