Is gaming on Tablets fun?

I've decided that I want to buy a tablet, since well its turning into a need for students these days, but i wont be purchasing a iPad or Samsung Tablet. What I'll be getting is a Sansui 7inch 1GHz 4GB internal memory. I want to know will it be good enough for the following things:
.Loging onto a open WIFI network without problems
.Using MS Word and Excel
.Playing games like NFS MW
.Long battery life
.Fast touch screen response

What OS is pre-installed?

What graphics accelerator is it using.

MS documentation might be tricky on a 7" screen, but useful if on the move a lot and documents need editing or such.

Given its specs, Wi-Fi connectivity shouldn't be problematic.

Can you possibly supply a link to the Tablet in question?

*above given statements based on personal experience from similar device(s) used*

I'm not too optimistic w.r.t. the gaming ability of the tablet in question (probably good enough for temple run and candy crush) but I can testify that on a tablet with a 1280x800 res office apps is usable.

I've got a bluetooth keyboard so that eliminates the on-board keyboard which saves a lot of screen real estate.

If you play the right games definitely.

Some of my favourites include - Kingdom Rush and Kingdom Rush frontiers, Galaxy on Fire 2 HD, Hearthstone and the infinity blade games aren't bad either.

The touch screen feels really weird to me when playing games. The ultra smoothness kind of irritates me but tabs run some pretty cool games just fine. The free games are annoying as all heck though, plagued with adds and menu's trying to trick you into buying items or unlocks for the game.
I know someone who had a Telefunken tab running android 4.1 or something and it was a complete lemon. Just a terrible tablet so I'd be weary of anything other than big name brand tabs. Try before you buy I guess.

Tablets are a requirement to students nowadays? That's news to me. In the lectures I've attended this year at Stellenbosch university I've seen maybe one or two people with tablets and the majority of people who bring electronic devices to class seem to prefer laptops. Tablets are nice to have, but they're definitely not a necessity. A laptop, on the other hand, is far more necessary than a tablet.

That's debatable, last year half our honours class had tablets. When your bag has a 2000 page textbook that looks like half a forest was cut down to make it as well as a file which seems to grow by the minute a tablet is a godsend. Plus since most lectures upload their slides for you to print it can get quite pricey to print 50 pages a day vs using a tablet and wifi to download them.

A laptop is just too heavy to add to your bag vs a laptop with all your books. Plus there are so many PCs on campus you don't need a laptop these days.

I went to a Matrix store for more info on a value for money tablet and the sales man there advised me to save up for a Dual core tablet with 3g, because the tablet that i wanted is quite useless according to him(no 3g, only WIFI).

i have the Samsung Galaxy Tab3 wi-fi only tablet and i absolutely love it but then again i have wi-fi at home....

.Using MS Word and Excel
Either you've never used a tablet or you've never use Excel...

Excel on a tablet is a bit like crawling from Cape Town to Moscow...technically possible but not recommended. You could maybe *view* some excel sheets on a good day.

My uni course had a compulsory fee for printing costs. The entire course was heavily subsidized though so the fee was a pittance despite the rain-forests being printed on. 50 pages per day...lol more like 50 per lecture.

Personally I'd go for paper again if I had to do it again (god forbid)...its useful for pencil notes and sketches. Theoretically you can sketch on a tablet too...but good luck doing so in practice under time pressure.

I'd place more emphasis on keeping my personal (digital laptop written) summaries up to date after each class. Looking back that last point would have made quite a diff.

I have done MS Excel level one and two. So yes im quite good at it. Lol. I downloaded the MS Apps on my smartphone and i must say its difficult to create a simple spreadsheet. I guess i'll have to forget about using MS Apps on a Tablet too.
