Is gaming sites hard to start?

I would imagine that starting any website with no backing or support base is very difficult. It is actually almost impossible to break even without significant traffic, and it is basically impossible to achieve decent levels of traffic in a short time, which costs money...which takes time...

MyGaming essentially follows the same functioning model as MyBroadband, we provide content and a forum in which to discuss it. Its really quite simple, but we find people like it.

The most important objectives for us right now are to grow the community, upgrade and neaten things up and improve on the quality and amount of copy. In time, I believe MyGaming will grow to become something very special.

We are constantly upgrading the site (updated the forum software last night), and are due for an interface overhaul fairly soon. We just moved servers which has created a few bugs :/ so those need to be ironed out.

Our saw our first significant page rank increase yesterday, which affects how Google indexes the site. In time Google becomes the bread and butter of a website, and its looking good so far with our Google traffic constantly on the rise.

So, to answer the OPs question, yes, it is difficult.

We had to do it though, as we saw a space to create something that we thought SA was lacking. There are a number of established, and very cool gaming sites in SA such as Lazygamer and El33tonline which we have a lot of respect for, but we had our own vision and goals for what we wanted from a gaming site, and eventually MyGaming will encompass that vision.

Please stick to the easy blue colour config that your site portrays ... it sounds lame, but it's much more soothing than hard colours & relaxes me when I come on here. The mygaming logo with the blue pacman ghosts, the browsing tabs and the welcome block all look perfect.

I must agree that we have a really chilled and fun community, having only 1 incident of conflicting personalities pop up in the 2 months is not bad going - and nice to see that it is not tolerated.

this is probably the best community I have come across.... great people and the fact that we can talk about gaming hehe.... hell whos complaining :D

Your input has been noted panty kicker

I like the site's current design too. I think that any interface changes should be implemented as a new skin. As a default skin, this one is perfect in my opinion.

Yeah like voicy said - the current theme n such is very good (even though there are two links to the forum at the top) and I'd keep that. Soothing on the eyes and gives a good, neat impression.

To be vaguely back OT, it's hard to start any kind of site really.
