Is the AAA game business a dying breed?

I hope not. Can't imagine the future of gaming being predominantly mobile. While there are some great indie titles, I still enjoy the best AAA titles a lot more.

I can understand the temptation for devs to focus on purely mobile games. Much shorter dev cycle; much lower budgets; and most importantly a micro-transaction model that people arent nearly as opposed to. However I also think that it isn't necessarily that mobile will eclipse AAA, rather that there is untapped potential for mobile and AAA to complement one another if the studio can find the right angle to do so.

I see more games moving towards a F2P micro-transaction model but I don't think AAA games will die off.

Same, maybe if I make the analogy of AAA titles being blockbuster movie like experiences, whereas mobile gaming being something akin to trending youtube videos (gangnam style, harlem shake etc) they're insanely popular for a short while but eventually die-off. MMORPG are maybe akin to long running series in terms of longevity? That's where my analogy falls flat on it's face lol

My point is that there's room for ALL of them and not just one.
