Is this CPU running well?

Judging by this screen cap, does this look good to you? It sure doesn't to me but Im no professional. My friends kind of bragging about how hard his PC is working but I think he needs some advice.

I don't own an i7, but of all the ones I've worked on I have never seen it running at that temp, not even under load/stress. This could indicate a problem with board/cpu or it could just be misreading from the sensors.

Core Temp can sometimes read the temperatures wrong. Try using Speccy to get a second reading. But what on earth is he doing to get 100% load on all cores? Bitmining? Is he running a stress test?

He is a photographer who does film now and again so he could be rendering something?

edit: says he is video editing.

Geez... I do a lot of photography as well and never reach such records!

Video editing/rendering, maybe, but not 100% on all cores! Something not right there.

I got that while playing FarCry3 on my i7 - 920... Then popped a Corsair H100i on it, and the CPU temp has not been over 50 since!!!

Those are very high temps for a CPU. If he's rendering video in the background while playing a game and doing a virus scan, then I can understand. :-) I am not sure if video editing will use multiple cores and it is in some instances inefficient, but games use most cores if I'm not mistaken.

Well then, he may need a new application of thermal paste and a better cooler, because that i7 is throttling itself because it's on high temperatures.

For interest's sake though, if your friend touches the CPU cooler while his video rendering app is running, does it feel hot?

I'll ask him. I just told him he could damage his cpu running at those temps.
