isoHunt - shut's down after 10 years.

I guess isoHunt just couldn't compete with piratebay, which has a dedicated team of moderators constantly checking for and removing fake torrents. I can't count the number of times I downloaded an torrent which was upvoted and had a good rating from isoHunt just to find a survey waiting for me when it was done.

Technically isoHunt did not host any torrents, it was simply an indexer for trackers.

Ok i just use torrents because i have never received an inv from a news host site or anyone for that matter so don't know how it works or where to get them.

But the torrent site i use the most is Piratebay and extra torrent.

How do you become a member of those sites and where to find them?

Netflix/Hulu :)

If you like downloading then --> SAbnzbd and Sickbeard :)
I use the same combo, it has made me very lazy now. I don't even go to the nzbsa site anymore :p

google can find most of them, but most have subscription fees and the ones that don't are invite only

Astraweb is like R100 a month but apparently it is well worth it from the speeds you get

The $110million settlement could also have something to do with it

In that case, I'm going to go with that explanation then. :p

You can check in the file info before downloading if it is a fake torrent since they will use a zip program.

Even shows me whats in there before I add it to my torrent client so no need to waste bandwidth.

Yeah, but some of those guys are really crafty. They hide those .rar files inside other files or even inside iso's, so you can't always spot that it's a fake without downloading it first.

Recently I even found one where the installer itself forces you to go to a survey site once it reaches a certain point. Sneaky buggers.

Ja man, I'm with you on this. Its especially bad for software torrents.

Well i havn't had that issue with Piratebay or with Extratorrent and i use Vuse bittorent client
the thing is, newsgroups aren't P2P. everybody downloads from a server, so your downloads are HTTP based and their are none of those seed/leech dramas

Isohunt has become a "fake torrent black hole" lately. I stay away from them as you are never really guaranteed of getting what you are downloading and they have viruses and malware. :-)
