Isopropyl/rubbing alcohol.

I was thinking of using Spirits to clean the thermal compound off my CPU, but after reading up on it a bit i thought that it is not worth the risk. I came to the conclusion that Isopropyl alcohol is the best option, but does anyone know where i could buy some or what the brand name would be? Thanks.

Pharmacies Carry what you are looking for, look for something called "Surgical Spirits" that's generally the name they sell Rubbing Alchohol under

ive never needed this? Ive simply taken carlton roll in the kitchen pressed firmly and took it off? Ive done this for years now and never damaged a cpu and everything worked fine ? Why go through the rubbing alcohol route?

Takes care of smaller impurities that might stay behind that you can't see, and that paper towels probably won't be able to remove.

When I still worked at an electronics shop, repairing tv's etc, we used that to clean the heads on video machines. Just don't leave the bottle cap off for too long. It evaporates very quickly.
