It’s too late to start playing these games

I would agree on the count of Dota 2. There is a MASSIVE learning curve, and unless you get a friendly group of people to help you out, the other players (your own team, especially) are the most unforgiving players you can get. I think that is mainly because one person playing badly can mess up the whole balance and dynamic by 'feeding' the enemy.

Does he maybe not say don't play these games together? If you look at the list all mentioned games do take up time and dedication. I have silly bought new game time for wow after 1 year of playing COD, thinking I would keep "busy" two months is not enough left off at a low item lvl everyone who raids is way higher and more into it as what I was. So I thought okay rep & farming but for what? I will next time re-think the option of game time and stick to one game for a year. So that was my few cents on the below. . . Later

I don't know, I just can't agree with this. As far as older FPS games go, I think it held up very well compared to other games released in that era. It's so similar to many modern FPS games that I don't see any reason why someone should have a problem playing it now.

I don't quite agree with this. I always avoided Dota 2 because everyone told me how hard it is. About a month ago my SO expressed interest in playing it so me and him played a few bot matches and after learning the basics we decided to move on the the real thing. We're not great players, but we do well enough that we haven't really been flamed by anyone so far.

All you need if you want to play Dota 2 is a willingness to learn, a willingness to work together and a willingness to listen to more experienced players. Just tell people once you start that you're new and they should just give you advice if you're doing anything wrong and you'll be fine. If someone decides to be a jerk, mute them. I was actually surprised at how easy DOTA 2 was to learn in the end.I'm now at a point where I always choose random and hold up well with any hero it throws my way.
