Itching for 3D !!!

Okay.

So I know that you need
1) Compatible GPU. (260 GTX Check!)
2) Compatible Screen. Considering 3D screens are blerrie expensive I thought that the Samsung 2233RZ 3D Lcd is a good choice at about R2500. Downside it has a max resolution of 1680X1050. Waiting on a price for the Alienwareâ„¢ OptXâ„¢ AW2310 which I personally think looks good.
3) NVIDIA 3D vision kit. The problem here is I want the wired glasses but where in SA can I buy them?

Any ideas ?

On another 3D note. If I buy a samsung 3D screen and get all the none NVIDIA related glasses and junk, will I be able to run games in 3D ?

quick question (not related to yours)

why go through all this trouble just to view everything 3D, it's amazing i know, but with CODMW 3 and Battlefield 3 looking beyond anyone's expectations...isnt that enough?

I've got a Samsung 3D screen. It emulates 3D so that you don't need to place any additional stress on your GPU. Plus it works with any game and GPU and you can use the set of 3D glasses that comes with the screen.

My opinion is that 3D is really not that amazing. After a while (and yes, it is cool at the beginning), I find myself turning it off and just playing the game in 2D.

Honestly, it's nice and so, in most games. FPS not so much. And then, your GTX260 will not be enough to run newer games at acceptable frames at decent settings.

Tried ATI's 3D3 on a Friends PC. After 20 minutes of ooh's and aah's in Crysis 2 I switched it to 2D because it was a] good enough for me and b] a little annoying.

Rather take the money you going to spend on a 3D monitor and get a better GPU?

3D looks cool for the first couple of minutes but I find it causes too much eye strain with prolonged use.

I tried Street Fighter on the 3DS it looks awesome but after 5 minutes it felt like my head was going to explode, they also recommend taking a break every so often.

I tend to agree with most of the guys here. I too have a 3D and to be honest it is not the best. Its nice to show off but the practical application is not the best. Let me put it this way, its not gonna make you a better gamer.

Thanks @ all

You answered all of my questions. I suppose its still an itch and I agree that it would be better to upgrade performance than invest in a 3D setup. Once I have decent performance I'll still look into 3D. Even if it is just for the hype.
