Jetpack to become available to public

A company from New Zealand is going to start selling flying jetpacks commercially. Strangely enough, these real jetpacks cost $75,000, which is less than the earth-bound JetLev Flyer which we posted about yesterday.

The Martin Aircraft Company jetpacks have about 200 HP coming out of their dual propellers. They can go up to 1.5 miles in the air and reach speeds of 60 mph. They will aim to make about 500 packs a year.

These jetpacks were invented by Glenn Martin, who unveiled his prototype last year in July. This whole contraption weighs less than 254 lbs, so in the UK, you won’t need a pilot’s license to travel in it. It is capable of traveling 30 miles with a full tank of fuel.

The jetpacks will be made in New Zealand, and the company says that these packs would be perfect for emergency services, as well private users and the military.

Jis imagine flying that thing to work, would be awesome! $75,000 is like an expensive car, about R525,000.

I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!! Dude can you imagine flying at 8000ft and not needing a pilots license :D I would have soooooo much fun with one of those :D

That is so awesome!!!!!!

Haha it would be flipping brilliant to zip over around town :D

Dude can you imagine the amount of reports of people saying that there is a UFO in their back garden lmao :p

I just came across this :)
You have to weigh less than 90kg and be over 18 years old to bid on the auction, but other than that the sky's the limit.

Do you think that people will actually lose the necessary weight in order to fulfill their dream to fly???

Would take like 5 minutes to get to work (instead of 20). Just fly there in a straight line over all the traffic.

though... even thouhg you get a *!!JETPACK!!* it would ba a bit too pricey to bee mainstream...

I can't weigh that much, I would have to remove some of my muscles or bone to weigh that much. :D

And just think you flying up there lekker and Malema comes zipping past you in his BMW special edition. Then later that night you hear he has crashed his car and you suddenly click it was not a special edition BMW flying jet pack it was actually him in his not very air worthy X5. It is lame I know I am bored.

I would not like to fly one. If some thing goes wrong then you are totally stuffed.

Would like to get my own smaller and better version in the future when the technology becomes a lot better. Think this could really improve traveling.
