Just Cause dev is against obtrusive DRM

It only took a few years but we finally managed to get someone with a brain in the gaming development side of the industry to speak out about the futility and frustration DRM can cause. Use the carrot not the stick.

Reward us for having originals. Prevent the following from happening. I was not sure about getting Deus Ex:HR but finaly decided to go pick it up on launch day, thus not getting any of the pre order goodies. 2 days later someone told me they pirated it and got all the extra features in their version. Silenced sniper gun? WTF?

Hoozah! Give that man a Bell's. A voice to the voiceless, the saviour of the gaming industry! Well enough of that bollocks talk. Well let's hope some of the other big players out there are listening and will see the error in their ways. Where there's a hacker there is a way to bypass DRM. But even then it is still a pain in our posteriors

Yay, now if only other companies listened to him as well. Just wish they had developed a bigger game that would have carried more weight eg Blizzard doing Diablo or something.
Actually if Blizzard were to all of a sudden change the online requirement and speak out against it would it carry much weight to other developers?

Hmm interesting point. But I think it's more a factor of telling CEO's that DRM just doesn't work. Where there is a hacker there is a way. But then again they'll just try and lock us in with pay-to-download DLC's and watered down games.

But maybe if the large production companies decide to abandon the idea more will follow soon after. All we can do is play, pray and hope forth.

I love it when devs speak out about cruddy DRM, it honestly makes me want to buy their games JUST to support their ideologies.

Fantastic

We could always still gift it to someone :p

Or we could let them get it for themselves and make them feel all good about it. We'd practically be doing them a favour.

Either way I'm glad that more devs are starting to speak against draconian DRM.

"Daar onder in die wa pad brand 'n liggie."

Now if only more devs can also understanding this concept; gamers will start treating them with equal respect.
