Keeping 2 HD 4890's quiet

Tinman

MyGaming Silverback
This review on Techpowerup has me seriously considering them as an option for my new build.

The only problem is that they are extremely noisy. Any one know of any good and inexpensive solutions? Iv looked around for good VGA water cooling as well as sound dampening cases.

Would appreciate any input.

Dude my PC is silent now after sharkie sold me his TX2 Coolermaster :D why dont u get ahold of one of those or something???

Just play loud music in your room all the time!:D

on a serious note. Fan noise has never ever bothered me.

Probably because I have worked in server rooms so long

Mmmmm...Dude..your gonna struggle keeping them quite..maybe get a damn good case and put it in the room next to the pc room if possible.

Sound dampening cases are very expensive. I'd rather spend money on a decent water cooling system. But to find a decent water cooling system in SA.......... eish!!!

Basically your options are Zalman (meh <missing sick smilie>), GigaByte (<missing sick smilie> x2) and Thermaltake(OMG!! PLZ NO!! <missing sick smilie> x3).

I would donate my left nut to science if a supplier would just bring in proper water cooling equipment like Danger Den (everything), Tygon (piping), ThermoChill (radiators) and SwifTech (everything) just to name a few.

If we did you could be looking at something like this:

And I'd be able to build rigs like these:

*sniff* I really wants me some SwiffTech awesomeness.

Nice post Toxin!

OK, so back to the real world then... :p

Any ideas? Im building a new rig and will be getting the HD 4890s soon. Im getting them from PCint for R2400 each (Thats excluding vat as I am buying them for MyGaming and claiming Vat back)

Well, you could get an aftermarket cooler. Something like........ wait...... what this?

Yeah...... I don't think I wanna help you no more............... :(

*sigh*

Fine!!!!

One of the best aftermarket coolers would be the Thermalright T-Rad².

You can get them at at Digital Addiction, bit pricy but they work very well. Get in contact with eitai2001, he owns Digital Addiction and might give you a a better price if you throw your MyGaming weight around........ which you seem to do very well.....getting two 4890s for R2400 each....... bastid.......

another cheap/not so nice solution would be the the coolermaster aquagate thing that "supposedly" cools two gfx cards ....
