Kickstarter - South African devs' game called Muti

Muti, however, has a darker side.

Used by witch doctors, the natural ingredients are replaced with dismembered body parts.

Muti isn't really part of magick or sorcery to be more correct. It means tree and is actually traditional medicine. Somehow it makes me think of all this satan panic doing the rounds these days. Poor pan...

I suppose this makes me a witch doctor since I have crushed olive leaves :D

Coz why .......... coz people would rather throw hundreds at international companies doing kickstarters and then bitch that no local talent gets supported

Skip to around 10:50 to see a couple of seconds of in-game footage. It really does nothing to inspire any sort of confidence...

I think it's more complicated than that. I'd love to support South African talent if it actually looked good. I'm not going to throw money at a company just because it's the "patriotic" thing to do.

If an American, Polish, Scandinavian, etc dev studio threw something like this out my reaction (and I'm sure, yours) would be the same: meh.

Damn, I missed this and it actually looks pretty cool. It looks like Amnesia but set in Joburg. :D It's a shame that it was cancelled.

Project is still on going for those who want to support it (Mephisto_Helix ??)

Muti is leaving Kickstarter.

Update #3

Hello

We at Celestial want to thank you for your support and for believing in not only Muti the game but in us too. We have decided to close down the kickstarter page for a number of reasons. One of which was that we feel we were not fully prepared for running a kickstarter page. We believe now even more then before that Muti is a great game and we are determined to finish it.

We will be doing regular updates on our progress on our website www.mutigame.com as well as on the Facebook and Twitter page

Thank you again.

I'll keep an eye on this; just hope that they make some big improvements. The art direction and theme both seem very promising. Would suck if gameplay lets it down.
