Kingdoms of Amalur - Reckoning

Custom PC controls that are not shoddily ported (allegedly).

Where did you get that info?

I saw the devs playing the game on the Xbox360 and I got chills down my spine thinking of how crappy the control system for PC is going to be if it suffers from Consolitis.

I am excited about this game as the combat looks insane and it does seem to have so much to do. I saw all the promotional videos as well as the combat videos, great looking game.

Also want to get this game first day, but Origin <pukes a little>.

I hate Origin! OMG! Did I mention I hate Origin? Well I do!

I always hear people complain about crap controls from ports, but even after playing just about every game from 2010 and 2011, I can't say I've ever had 'crappy' controls in any of them. :?

Only one I ever experienced was Deadspace.

Likewise, if it's Origin, then no buy from me...

I'm not particularly hyped up for this. I'll give it a shot.

Ah the joys of having it on Console... no need to worry about Origin or any other publisher imposed failsafes.

Will see whether this is worth it. So for now its look and see.

Not worried by origin, haven't given me any issues, its not like its gfwl.:D

Sorry for not searching your thread first Omega Fenix.

@ SoulCollector: I think RockPaperShotgun mentioned it.
Where did you find out it is an Origin game? I'm sure as hell not buying it if its Origin.

It is released by EA so it will obviously be released under Origin and I think if you go check the origin store you will see the game there as well as on the Amalur website there should at least be a Origin logo somewhere.

The same goes for Mass Effect 3 on PC - ORIGIN... $%#@@%$#&#@

In the thread I started about Bad Company 2 I said that one of the reasons I didn't get Battlefield 3 was because I don't like Origin. Now the guys who posted in that thread have no problems with Origin. I don't know whether its post-purchase rationalization or not, but I'd like to know specifically what it is about Origin that you don't like. I'd really like to know what you guys know. Thanks.

I play SWTOR which is on Origin, but it does not require me to log into origin or anything silly like that.

BF3 on the other hand is just a pain. Launching the game first logs you into origin, then opens a browser, then from the browser you get logged into a server. The whole thing is just such a ball-ache in comparison to how simple Bf2 operated.

Some folks have issues DL'ing stuff via origin, but I haven't had the displeasure of even attempting that yet.

OMG BF3 is a pain to play, like Voicy said, just add that you have to exit the game COMPLETELY to join a different server.

Also I had major issues getting the game installed, then detected by Origin (the program used to install the software) because some how Origin can install your software , but takes 3 restarts to detect that you did install it.

Also updating can be a bitch, since if the update doesn't complete it starts FROM THE BEGINNING. Some people downloaded the 3.9Gb patch 3 or 4 times to before it actually completed...

That's why I hate Origin, damn you EA, just go back to steam and save us from your shit software distribution platform...

Quite surprised that nobody posted the requirements for this game. It looks pretty awesome but I am hoping to leave it as an "unknown" gem for me so not wanting to see any sort of spoilers or anything. Anyways here are the official requirements:
The specs come direct from the game's official forums.

For more on the game, be sure to check out our in-depth video preview of the game with lead designer Ian Frazier.

You will also need an internet connection for product activation/registration.

Pretty basic requirements. So obviously not going to break your pc to play this.

Yep this is where Origin comes in to screw us all over :(

Yeah I was very surprised at how low the requirements are. I am yet to use Origin so it seems like I am in for a nasty shock judging by peoples opinions about it. But don't know when I will be getting this game so hopefully by the time I do the mess will be sorted.

The server selection problem of Origin shouldn't pose an issue Reckoning (it's strictly single player as far as I know). But the patching issues, oh lord, I hope I don't face those too.
