Laptop Keeps on Shutting Down!! HELP

murfle, these are those Proline Nano PC's I speak of. They are imaged, standard with no extra software. So you are right in this regard. I am thinking it's a fail-safe in the BIOS that makes THESE ones shut down.

And judging now by Flex's comment, it points to something graphics related since it shutdown while he in (I am assuming) the CS:GO game.

Eugene, I did not say Murfle is wrong, I merely said I disagree with his statement that it could not be overheating since overheating would just shutdown the PC. Like I said, the ones I have encountered (not all) shut down automatically when it gets too hot.

I think it's only when the fails fail they shut off.

I just used that to stress the GPU a bit and see what happens if its not total idle mode. Has restarted with nothing running as well

to blame win8.1 and go back to win7 isn't the best way to resolve this problem. Rather try get this working on 8.1 and figure out the problem.

Did u upgrade to win8.1 or fresh install
If it was an upgrade, it might we worth considering a fresh install, with the latest drivers and updated BIOS.
If it was a fresh install to begin with, then u need to have a look at what was recently installed. Check what the latest windows update was and look at uninstalling it, maybe even revert back to a different system state.

Confirm all drivers are installed correctly and that there are no issues in device manager. Heck double check that u have enough HDD space, u will be surprised the problems that can cause.

If none of this works, start looking into hardware faults.

yeah I agree 100%. I think 8.1 is stable enough so should be fine. Will go through a process of elimination when I get home, and hopefully get don to the bottom of the problem.

Asked my wife to put my laptop on and leave it on, without all the fans and things at about 12 today. And the laptop is still running, logged in and idling. I have a feeling that it might be software related

Seemed that it is my graphics card that is busy going! Downloaded Afterburner and underclocked, and seems to have worked :(

Are you running with unlocked frame rates in CSGO? Sometimes it's the cause of overheating and excessive GPU stress, I had the same problem with my GTX560 until I locked the frame rates to 60~.
