Laptops: Korean Style.

Ok, guys so here's the downlow: I'm moving to South Korea next year to teach Engrish to the little ones and I am going to need to buy a laptop once I'm there... Thing is, I have no idea how to check the local (South Korean) prices for lappies.I understand laptops to be cheaper in the East as the manufacturers are all there already and thus shipping is cheaper. That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge (he hangs his head in shame).

I am open to any recommendations and suggestions.
There are a few things I know I want out of a laptop though, and the list is as follows:
1) Must have the largest screen possible (I'm a big guy so its mass is negligible to me, also I have grown accustomed to using my 27" screen at home and would never cope with a 15" lappie screen)
2) I want to be able to play Skyrim on ultra...
3) I don't want a fugly, overpriced Alienware that looks as though it was designed in Need for Speed Underground 2
4) HDD capacity is not an issue as I will purchase externals to supplement any short-comings in this regard.

Thanks in advance for any assistance rendered and expertise exercised.
Love, Strawberry:love:

1. I'm not sure if you get much bigger than 17" on laptops.
2. You will need to get a fugly, overpriced Alienware that looks as though it was designed in Need for Speed Underground 2.

Or get a mid-range decent laptop and one of these http://www.villageinstruments.com/tiki-index.php?page=ViDock to plug into it, also you will need to get a GPU separately for that.

I have no idea if those things even work well, just came across them the other day. It should hopefully run as well as a desktop though, and you can plug it into a a large sized screen for games, and just take the laptop by itself when you need portability.

It is possible to get 18.4" screens, but 17.3" will suffice...
But the big question is, can you help me find out the prices for laptops in South Korean Won? Google has yielded me no fruit.

Thanks for the assist, axon1988. I love that things screen size (18.4") and brushed steel/aluminium finish, very sexy. But why in Odin's name would anybody put speakers that size on a laptop?

I will have to add though, that I determined I want a 5series (540m or 560m) graphics card. I know I am being very specific now and that may seem pedantic, sorry.

Best bet is use a tablet for mobile work and a PC for games... lets face it. If you are running skyrim on untra and DONT have 5.1ch sound, you are a waste.

If it has to be a laptop, go ASUS or Sony VIAO. Everything else pales in comparison.

Okay so now that I'm back at work... I got to work on finding you the kind of laptop I would love to have. Although I also want a nice stylish one. Here are some options:

Although not pretty, this laptops seems like it can pack a punch with a decent sized screen;

Then there's this guy who looks better, but you get a smaller screen;

Had to translate the Taiwanese website of Acer but this is what I found;

Or this guy maybe;

Otherwise I've been thinking about getting me one of these, one day in about 20 years. I just love the way it looks, and it sure packs a decent punch;

Thanks for the recommendations Axon1988. Muchly appreciated. I've settled on getting something cheap-mid range whilst I'm still here in SA and then perhaps purchasing something better once I'm in South Korea; if a good deal strikes me. Then I can just give the one I bought here to my girl-friend or give it to charity or something. Doesn't really matter. Anyway I posted this thread on another forum I frequent and got trolled pretty hard. It's really quite funny. Check out this reply I got, it takes the form a re-phrasal of my OP:

"Ok, guys so here's the downlow: I'm moving to South Korea next year to teach Engrish to the little ones and I am pretending to need to buy a laptop once I'm there... Thing is, I just want to brag about my plans and let you all know .I understand laptops quite well and don't really need any of your input. This is pretty much a bragging thread (he hangs his head in shame).I am open to no recommendations and suggestions.There are a few things I know I want out of bragging though, and the list is as follows:1) You must all know im going to Korea to teach english (I'm a big guy so i need lots of attention, also I have grown accustomed to bragging at home and would never cope with 1 or 2 replies to this topic. I will also be playing loads of games in Korea, on faster speeds than you. I don't want short replies that looks as though your trolling. spam is not an issue as it will boost my ego and bring attention to the fact that i am a ginger.Thanks in advance for feeding me attention, Strawberry"

You're a ginger? *OMG* :P

Hah well in all seriousness, glad i could help! If you ever feel like giving it to a charity please consider me. Would love one, but just don't have the cash for it. *Lame attempt at begging*

Also maybe you want to check this out then, can't beat their prices anywhere:

So many peeps moving to South Korea, two of my mates have also gone over to teach Engerish. Is there like a high demand for English teachers or something?
