Lazygamer and News24 No More?

Lazygamer and News24

I see that if you scroll to the bottom of News24 to the gaming section then the articles are from MWEB and not Lazygamer like it used to be.

Does anyone know what happened?

Did News24 maybe decide that it's cheaper to go with MWEB that belongs to the same group (I think)? It sucks that they went this corporate route. I'd much rather go for the smaller places like Lazygamer.

*edit*

I forgot Lazygamer had a presence here. Lazygamer would you maybe like to comment?

*edit2*

Looks like I didn't investigate this enough before creating a thread. Changed the title.

If I click on the top two gaming headings one takes me to mweb gamezone and the other takes me to lazygamer?

Honestly I never even knew that LG was on NEWS24's site. I know that the issues with Colon Spinster caused a lot of financial burden on them. But I don't know the full story, hopefully they see this post and can let us know. I really dig that site and they better now be goin anywhere!

Ah cool, I didn't realise some of them still goes to Lazygamer. So maybe MWEB was just added to the mix and I jumped the gun completely?

Sorry about that everyone! Well then I'm glad that Lazygamer still features at News24. Unfortunately I can't check at work. Just based everything on what I saw early this morning. :)

If I click on the Games tab under lifestyle drop down, then it takes me to lazygamer - so I think its still linked? I couldnt find the games section at the bottom of the main page.

Hmm I quickly had a look and for me at the bottom of News24 all the gaming articles are pointing towards MWEB.

From the drop-down menu, choosing "Games" redirects you to Lazygamer. All the way at the bottom for the "Gaming" category, it redirects to MWEB Gamezone. Its a bit lazy, honestly, but perhaps that's the only arrangement that would allow them to both be linked on the same page.

Well I found this thread maybe slightly later than expected :)

News24 decided to go inhouse entirely with their news and to release 'micropublishers' as they called us.

Regarding the Colin comment, while the judicial system did (In my opinion) unduly punish me, Lazygamer are 100% safe financially. The court case was against me (Gavin) personally and was paid for by myself at the time.

Oi, you are late!

It sucks that News24 went the in house route. It must have lessened your traffic quite a bit. I subscribed to your RSS after that though and hopefully other people did something similar.

I know at some point you wanted to sell Lazygamer. Did that ever happen? Do you still want to sell it or have you come to your senses? :p

I have to say, I gave up on LazyGamer after the Colin Webster incident. They turned a damning, factual article into a smear-post. That in itself is a blunder, but what followed was just awful journalism. They posted several sympathy-seeking articles giving updates on what was (at their own admittance) a private matter concerning one of their journalists, being of no relevance to LazyGamer itself.

In many aspects Gavin is a complete amateur and it's a shame that his ineptitude casts a pall shadow over his colleagues, many of whom are quite talented.
