Let the Upgrade Begin

So its time to start ooopgrading the old Rig again.

I'm going to start with my chassis and PSU then do a GPU in a month or so before maybe moving over to Ryzen in a few months once dust settles on that.

So i'm looking at getting the Phantek P400s Tempered Glass Chassis

And then the problem what PSU do I get, was thinking 600/650W Antec I was looking at the Antec NEO Eco 650W which is modular at a sweet price point, but what do you know there are no reviews or tests anywhere or the net about this model, I know you cant really go wrong with Antec and Sesonic but still, so anybody know anything about this thing or have any other suggestions ?

Also side note F#$# bitcoin miners making my life miserable finding a PSU is not fun at the moment.
 
Nice case - good luck trying to find a GPU though, the makret is crazy at the moment with the mining craze. You'll be lucky if you find stock and if you do you'll be paying R1k-R2k more than usual. What is your current GPU? Maybe hang onto that for now

I'm fairly certain I have a Antec eco 520w (or around there) at home in my 2nd pc. If so, its been happily pulling those electricity fairies out the plug for a good couple years on the 280x I've had in there (and a GTS 450 before that).

Will check. I don't think mines modular tho. But will confirm. Antec are pretty solid in PSU department though, if my outdated research still holds :)

I have a GTX 960, it just doesn't seem to be making the cut these days, my flatmate picked up a GTX 1060 and the performance diff is leaps and bounds, maybe even 1070 would be nice, I suppose it depends how often I want to upgrade GPU's :P

Yeah the GTX 1060 performance is pretty much on par with the GTX 980. The GTX960 is a nice card as well, but for 1080p gaming you would have to play at medium settings probably.

But yeah, buying a GPU at the moment (for a normal price) is going to be nigh on impossible. Stick it out with the GTX 960 for now and wait a few months, hopefully prices and stock return to normal. Heck, perhaps we are lucky and the mining bubble bursts and the market gets flooded with cheap 2nd hand GPU's.

You won't be able to find a 1070- or 1060 for quite a few months it seems =D
 
So after spending may Googles I have reached the point where I want the EVGA Supernova GQ 650W, now to find stock somehow.... :cry:

I was lucky to pick up a Galax 1080 EXOC at R8999 from Wootware. It arrived on Monday and I immediately set it to work mining altcoins on Nicehash.
