Local Kinect and 4GB 360 Slim pricing

R 2000 for a fancy Wiimote? No thanks, especially since it's only R 399 shy from the price of a new console! I hope Sony won't embarrass itself like this with pricing when Move is released.

It works out to about $ 265 in SA - even in Europe it's under $ 200 when converted from GBP and EUR.

I wonder if the Kinect will be region blocked somehow? I'm going to visit my family in Canada again next year and if Kinect proves to be a nice addition to my Xbox I can buy one there.

Give it 6 months 2 a year and the fad will fade, then ill consider picking it up. That or simply get it bundled with a new "slim".

For R900 I would have seriously considered getting it but for R1999 I will give it a skip.

This is way too expensive. And besides will they ever implement it in decent games?

@Toxin

That depends on how you intend to run it I suppose
If you are going to run it off the Internal powersupply of the new Stealthbox it might be an issue as although the voltages should be set to internal values instead of running directly off the main power input, you never know until you test it.
Using a stepdown converter and running it off mains would probably be doable as I doubt the Kinect itself will have any form of region zoning

That said though, I am really surprised at the projected local pricing, I don't see this becoming all that big in SA

Ye is a schlep not even a free game.
Maybe they give you a free Poncho.

Im really surprised though. When Kinect came out all the all the publishers and people were raving it.
So sad it goes this way.Ah well i guess it was good on paper but bad to implement it

Yay for the usual double the price of US ripoff. I was waiting to see pricing before I get myself an XBOX. I think I will pick up a nice cheap 360 elite second hand when all the rich kids go for kinect.
