Local LAN Voice Chat

Hi guys... noob question time...

Kids have PC's in different locations of the house... they too have headsets and mics.. and all play various games on the local network with each other.

Apart from Skype... is there any chat type thing available that can be run only on the local network? Teamspeak seems to require they enter someone's server to chat... anything for local only?

The oldest is 10 and youngest 6 so I am a tad concerned about anything other than local LAN accessed chat.

Any recommendations / advice?
All input welcome and much appreciated.

mumble and Ts both can run on local network.

The mumble server installs with the aplication itself and is called murmer. 1 needs to run it and the other can connect to it.

Mumble sounds perfect. Local server for the clients. Thanks.

I cannot find a "local LAN" only option in TeamSpeak... but I am a total noob. I will look again.

for team speak you just need to host a server. Then when you have the server just get the ip from that pc. The clients will then need to connect to said IP of server
