You can create a shortcut from steam so then you can still have all the icons you want...

Not sure what you mean. I hardly even look at Steam, it just sits in my taskbar being cool and stuff.

Am i strange that i cant handle any icons on my desktop? There is nothing worse than a cluttered desktop to me... Im extremely happy with the Windows 8 "app" set up...

With regards to social media, im only on facebook so im not to bothered...

The task bar is there for a reason... And if what i want isnt in the taskbar, i go to the app menu...
