Can anyone here recommend a decent CPU cooler for an i5 2500...

Preferably something that uses PWM and quieter than the stock intel cooler...

if you are replacing an existing cooler, Make sure your thermal paste is in order! A brilliant heatsink means nothing if the heat can't actually be transferred onto it. I use Arctic MX-4 and can personally vouch for it (did a Laptop, two Desktops and a PS3 with it - absolutely brilliant)

And if You own a Mansion/private plane, then this thing should be top priority as well:

ok please give my post a thought.

Get the Coolermaster Evo 212. Get a extra fan if you must.

I had a V8 that got drilled by lightning. The V8 was rated one of the best coolers of its time and yet there is almost no difference between temps of the 2. Its affordable and its performance is crazy . Its also very very quiet.

Depending on this size of your rig the 212 might not fit , the safest i would say is a coolmaster hyper tx3 unless your going to overclock but its a great stock cooler replacement

I've got a Zalman CNPS9900Max which I use with my i7-2600K, and it's frikken awesome. It's part of Zalman's Computer Noise Prevention System (CNPS) range, so you can run it in a very quiet mode, however, at full speed it can be quite loud.

Full speed is only really needed for heavy overclocking, though. Got my 2600K up to a stable 5.05Ghz. At that clock, the CPU reached 83°C after the third wPrime 1024M run.

I'm a fan of Cooler Master. I've been using the one Glordit posted and its older brother Evo 212 without any issues.

I've got the Thermalright HR-02 Macho. Very cool temps throughout on my i5-2500k. Only drawback - it's HUGE. All my RAM fits in nicely though, unlike the Akasa cooler I had before this one.

Lol.... awesome cooling setup there InSanity!

Would just like to know, what adhesive tape do u use as the box-tape I get from PEP does not hold my fan very long....

Hmm did you remove the base thats very important as the base is where the weight is and will cause a critical tape mass restriction error :D

Another vote for the Zalman CNPS9900 max although you check your chassis for clearance. It is one of the best in terms of price/performance.

So my tx3's push pin is broken  noticed it while doing some maintenance, so its holding on with three legs ,its probably been that way for a month that's about how long ago i started hearing a strange sound every now and then i thought was just a fan.

Anyway I ordered a hyper t4, they basically just came out does not look bad should be here tomorrow, its worth looking into.
