Looking good old-timer: games that have aged well Part 2

Fear Effect 1 and 2 on PS1 have aged pretty well too. The cell shaded character models and pre-rendered backgrounds still hold up pretty well when playing on an emulator. Would love to see a reboot someday.

I would still like to have another look at Riven... That game was insanely beautiful for its time...

the beauty of pre rendered bg's thats why they re released the gamecube resident evil from 2001 this year and it still looks every bit as good as it did 14 years ago

Even tho the scenes were pre rendered the game was just put together so incredibly well it didnt matter...

Havent seen the Gamecube Resident Evil, but will go have a look ;)

Im a massive fan of emulators and have been playing all the games I couldn't play when I was a kid, best of all the emulators replicate the scan lines of the old tv's so it seems super authentic. You can also smooth the edges of the pixels so the games look like hd remakes.

I think it got a bit of an HD treatment though with the re-release so it's not 100% the same as 14 years ago.

Yeah upscaled in resolution with better quality textures (they might've upped the polygon count on the character models too), but all that really does is make it look better on modern screens. The original was just as stunning in it's time and was way ahead of it's time in the graphics department. No other game from the early PS2 era could be given an HD remaster and be able to compete with some present day releases, based purely on graphics anyway.
