Lord Of The Fallen

Strange that the darksouls gamers did not jump and make a thread about this. Some people might have seen some gameplay atm on youtube trying to get some exposure for the game before launch set for 31 October 2014.

The game is set in a world where no sin is forgotten. Players take on the role of Harkyn, a convicted criminal whose sins are visible on his face, in the form of runes. The world's rulers are working to banish all evil from humans; it is unclear what exactly this might mean for someone like Harkyn. When an army of long-defeated gods attacks the human realm, Harkyn is released from prison with a chance at redemption. Along with his mentor, Kaslo, the journey to stop the attacks leads to Rhogar, another dimension inhabited by demons. Players can form alliances as they progress, combat enemies of ever-increasing difficulty, and eventually travel to the heart of the demonic realm, in an effort to achieve forgiveness for the anti-hero, Harkyn.

Lords of the Fallen is an hack and slash action role-playing game and is often compared with video games like Darksiders and Dark Souls. Both Lords of the Fallen and Dark Souls have a realistic combat system, but Lords of the Fallen differentiates itself by not punishing the player for making mistakes. The game uses many save points to make sure the player doesn't lose too much progress.

They're not doing a good job marketing this game atm. It's not a surprise it's going completely under the radar.

I think this game is gonna be good I have watched quite a few gameplay videos and it looks promising but I will wait for user's impressions before deciding to buy as Gta5 is coming and even though I played it to death the ps4 version is looking real good.

I've played for a bit now (killed the first boss) and I am enjoying it but the constant crashes are starting to annoy me know. Sometimes it crashing on startup, sometimes after 5 minutes or more. Longest I've played without a crash is about 20 minutes. Particularly annoying for this type of game since everytime it crashes I lose some progress. Steam says I have 2 hours logged, but my actual savegame only has like 25 minutes played, so damn annoying. It just crashed again, I can't seem to make any progress as everytime it crashes I start at the previous checkpoint again. Should have got this on PS4...

Then I'm grateful I have it on console. Check videos by Total Biscuit, I know he had a bit to say about it whether or not he mentioned something about a fix I'm not sure.

I've tried all the fixes I found online, nothing is working for me. Performance wise the game runs fine on my PC, just the constant crashing that's annoying.

And I was considering buying this game.

The combat and gameplay look awesome but if this is how the game runs then it looks like a hit and a miss.

That's quite unfortunate. The gameplay and mechanics [-]is[/-] are actually pretty solid, and the fighting actually feels weighted. The story and voice acting is the biggest disappointment for me though. Actually kinda puts me off.

Yeah man, it's extra annoying since from the moment I started playing I knew this will be a game I will really enjoy, but I can't do that since I can't make any progress. I have done the same small section about 6 or 7 times now without getting any further. I planned to at least go save once I loot two chests that I found in the area (with better gear) but I'm not even managing to do that without it crashing. I'm going to attempt it one or two more times and then I'm leaving it until there is another patch, at least I have other games to play but I want to play this so badly.

What's really weird is that some people are playing it without crashes and they've all said the game is brilliant, couple of people I've spoken too said the game was awesome but much like Wlad they were frustrated with having to replay certain sections over and over again because of crashing.

It' sad that this is what PC gaming has come to. So many titles this year have been strewn with buggy games on release and after...

I managed to play for quite a bit now without any issues. Played for close to an hour now without the game crashing once and managed to make some progress. I found some awesome loot, increased my attributes a bit and learned 2 spells. I am really starting to love this game, despite its issues. I've made it a habit now to constantly run back to the checkpoints to save after clearing any room or finding some loot that I might want to use (later). At least the enemies don't respawn when you use the checkpoints (like in the Souls games); they only respawn when you quit the game (or die). I also like that you can use the checkpoints without losing your xp bonus, but as a trade-off it won't refill your health and potions. I am really liking the game mechanics as a whole and I hope I will be able to keep making progress without too many issues.

Ok well I've played for more than a hour now and haven't had a single crash.

Thing I love about it the most is the actual feel of combat, your hits somehow feel like they are actually doing damage and you can see the difference between normal hits and hard hits, this is something that very few games have gotten right.

The game is also beautiful, the graphics are top notch, especially once you head outside for the 1st time and you catch a glimpse of the sun and then look at the landscape and actual buildings.

Its a pity some people have so many issues with the game crashing.

Epic game!!

Yeah, the combat is really awesome. Definitely the best thing about the game, I also really like the different weapons and how each one requires a different strategy to use effectively. I noticed that if I restart my PC before starting to play I can play for at least on hour without a crash, although sometimes I have to start the game about 2 or 3 times before I actually get to the main menu.

I can definitely recommend this game to fans of the Souls games or just anyobody that enjoys a good melee combat system.
