Losing the will to game! What to do?

So for the past two weeks I've been loosing the will to game, I just can't get excited over games anymore :(!

I've been through these stages where I just don't feel like gaming but I've always been able to pick up a killer indie game (Be it LIMBO, Bastion, Atom Zombie Smasher etc...) that reminds of all the the good that gaming can accomplish! That is not the case anymore...

But lately for the past two weeks I've been on one steady decline! I just barely made it through LBP and for the past four days I just haven't gamed at all. I've logged into PSN or Steam put in a game, I play 2mins and just walk away...
What do you guys do when you go through this? Will it pass or is my gaming number up :(?

yar, go through phases like that as well, just go with it and take a break.
You should feel the urge to play again after some time has passed. Don't try and force it, makes it worse.

I was feeling the same way and could not play any aaa titles. So I found playing stalker with a mod and playing men of war as has made me into gaming again.

Dont stress it shall pass at the end of the Month BF3 and Arkham City once you play titles like these the feeling shall come back , Oh and MW3

Take a break, gaming to hard can do that to you :p

I'm taking a break, and I'm not even missing it! Lol, most of my friends are gamers and all they do with their free-time is game, so when I try and get everyone together for drinks they aren't too keen hey!

I went through the same thing. I was never the same afterwards.

My exact sentiments! The only reason why I log into PSN every night is so I can respond to anyone who sends me messages...

I went through the same phase as well. I mostly spent my free time catching up on series. After that, there was no more time to game.

So maybe look at catching up on old series?

I had the same problem then i just stopped communing with other gamers, gave my consoles a rest and in a week or so i was back to normal.

That is exactly what I am doing :).
At this rate, I dunno if I want to game anymore... And I'm secretly thankful! Odd...

I've never been through a bout of gamers depression as bad as this...

I went through this recently as well. Took a 2 week hiatus, didn't go near a game. Of course, by the last two or so days I was dying to play something.

Same here dude. Also getting gatvol, but mostly due to all the kak games being released. I haven't bought a game in months. Last game I bought was Deus Ex, which was a fantastic game. But RAGE was a fail, and I'm not even looking to buy Skyrim anymore. Also definitely not getting Diablo 3 anymore.

The only game I'm really excited about, and still waiting for is BF3. I think after that I might now even get another game for months to come.

Too much of a good thing ruins it. Eat pizza twice a day for a month and tell me if you'd still want some at the end of it :p

Moderation is key. If you love something, savour it or else you'll ruin it :p

Same same here. Funnily enough Alice - the madness returns pulled me out of my slump.

Then got Gears 3 and I am back on the gaming wagon :D

Here, enjoy some off-beat Saints Row humour.

Unlike Batman: Arkham City and Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Saints Row: The Third's PC version has not been "delayed by any unforeseen development problems, shipping issues, inclement weather, or zombie apocalypse," says THQ. Bucking the trend! I like it. [Saints Row]

true dat. it's really important not to let a hobby dominate your life

I also go through such phases. I've gone months, like in 5 months without playing games and not wanting to play games at all. It came back though. Whatever you do, just don't give away all your games and consoles o.O

I've recently come out of this phase and all ready to go with BF3, busy killing time with Dragon Age 2 untill then.

Gamer burnout.

It feels like you're obligated to finish games you bought - and the pile just seems to get bigger.

I'm suffering from the same thing. I've stopped my WoW subs and made a rule to not buy any new games until I finish my current selection. (Then I bought Portal 2 for R200 and finished it in 2 sittings :o) I realised now that even this decision takes the joy out of gaming for me, because now it's become a chore to finish old titles before I can get new ones.

However, hoarding games that you buy on special etc. and never end up playing is a real problem. And I also think you're spoiling yourself for choice. So pic 1 game, put the rest in storage, and play that one game until it's finished. Playing bits of different games gives you no sense of accomplishment.

More importantly, find other hobbies as well. I've started gymming in the evenings directly after work instead of playing WoW as soon as I get home and it's given me a metric crapton more energy than I had before, not to mention losing 8.5kgs in 2 months.

I also bought myself a road bike, bought a kindle and took up scuba diving. So now my weekends no longer consist of me playing games all day, but rather a case of me trying to find time to play games - rather than play games out of boredom, which brings back the enjoyment.

Give it a try...see what's what. Oh - and stay away from MMO's!

I guess it's something everyone goes through. It happened to me also, just take a break. After a couple of weeks (or a couple of months in a very bad case), you will be yearning to get your hands on games again.
