Driving is rather responsive, so don't know what the critics were on about.

Yeah, I don't know either. I'm guessing many of them didn't even play the game properly. Eurogamer claimed there's no handbrake, yet there is. Dunno where they get these reviewers from when they can't even check the controls for a couple of seconds.

The driving and control scheme really takes some getting used to, the driving almost feels a little unresponsive (maybe cos you driving in sand?). Quite unorthodox controller setup though.
Oh, and I couldn't find a handbrake button, so it's difficult to do a quick 180'

yeah lately I have noticed a lot of these idiots doing game reviews where it seems they spent very little time on it, if any at all. zero punctuation being one of those.

It's in the "alternative control" scheme :)
Otherwise, it's shift on a keyboard.

Take heed of Graal's words :p /jk

Has anyone tried using a Xbox remote on PC for driving yet? how does the driving feel with the keyboard?

Yeah, playing on PS4. Didn't think they could be changed, nevermind checked in options.

The controls are a bit weird with jump as L2 and run/sprint ar R2.

The driving gets noticeably less sluggish as you progress. My Ripper DLC unlocked yesterday and that car body handled like a dream compared to my current one.

You have to remember that at the start you're building a car from scratch. You can't really expect it to handle amazingly right off the bat. I'm about 10 hours in and my car still isn't optimal. Much better than when I started, though.

do you get to drive the Interceptor at all before it's taken from you?

Alternate controls on PS4 works much better for me. R1 to shoot and circle to evade, won't be wasting as much ammo anymore, hopefully.

Has anyone run out of petrol yet? I'm still in the 2nd area and there are jerrycans everywhere. Which i usually ignore because i still have a full can and a mostly full tank.

well that's concerning, I thought it would have been a scarce commodity. The only place I've run out so far is in the beginning tutorial section which I think is scripted to teach you the mechanics of it.

that changes as you modify your car...

the devs said that because the driving is such a big part of the game there will be more gas. but to balance that out, things like ammo will be more scarce. also keep in mind, the game plays off around Gastown

First things I've upgraded were the water and ammo perks. Its so frustrating when you find the perfect spot for some sniping and you don't have any ammo.

I'm almost 19 hours in now and only at 25% completion. Focusing more on lowering control in each region to unlock upgrades before moving on to the next. I unlocked the third stronghold yesterday afternoon already, but I haven't even gone into the area yet. I don't mind the side stuff being repetitive as I am having a ton of fun doing it all.

I'm loving the world and immersion of the universe, they's really done a fantastic job at making you feel apart of it. From character bio's to information on everything. I also love the fact that you can check the area you're in to see how much you still need to do or collect. It's great for the perfectionists and kak bad for the OCDers. :p

^THIS!

I had 6 Griffa tokens when I reached the first time upgrade stage, which wasn't enough...

I found out last night, thanks to Reavs (I think it was, or chan0o ?) that I could set my control scheme to use "alternate", but under further analysis all this does is switch O with R1.

It only switches those two buttons, still, I think R1 is a better fit for fire than doge/evade :p
