If it was all about looks, those video game girls would win hands down in most aspects. But beyond looking at her, I'm not sure what kind of satisfaction he would get out of it :D

But while you may think the guy is a nutcase (it occurred to me, seriously) - it's obvious he hasn't turned himself into an introverted misfit who's scared of the rest of the world (hikikomoris et al). It looks as though he sees the ... ummm ... how to put it .... joke(?) in what he did and is quite happy and capable to tell people about it.

They mentioned it was a "half-serious wedding" - so it was a little tongue-in-cheek. And they say he's representative of a lot of young Japanese gamers. So, nothing too new ;)

Frankly though, I don't think it's unique to Japan - you'll probably find similar people here in SA if you look hard enough :)

But the Doll Thing is Ridicules. Even if it is a Blowup doll. unless it is a "Real Doll" from www.realdoll.com they can make you a doll that looks like any one you like from a Picture. Thus meaning you can have a game Caracter....
 
Wow, I mean, you can joke about it or I'd say something like "If Rikku was real I'd tap that bro" but to actually do it is...insane. A bit obsessive, I'm not surprised he can't find a real wife.
