Insurance can't replace the hours spent playing those games and getting all your lost achievement/trophies back so I would definitely run in to save my console

How durable are hard drives? Could they possibly survive a fire?

But they're sealed up tight. I guess if they get too hot they get damaged.Actually hard drives are extremely sensitive. A large fire would make it totally worthless.

@brendanvb, c'mon make an effort and crop the youtube header/player menu![]()
Would you risk death to save your gaming device?
Maybe its worth getting a big dropbox account for stuff like that. Also helps in the event of HD failure, which seems to happen to all my externals for some reason..Nope, but for family and children photographs (on hard drives), the grandfather clock, cuckoo clock and some of my books I would risk it. I have a few things I have inherited which no amount of money could replace. It's pure sentiment, so I would risk it several times if I had too. All the gaming stuff can be replaced.
Or you could ask firefighters to try and get the fire out wherever that is located first, then retrieve it.For me it would depend on the console.
If its like a SNES signed by a game designer or something along those lines then yes but only if the fire wasn't raging out of control and destroying everything in its path yet.
