The military ambulance that transported former president Nelson Mandela to hospital two weeks ago broke down due to "engine problems", the presidency said on Saturday.

"All care was taken to ensure that Madiba's medical condition was not compromised by the unforeseen incident," spokesman Mac Maharaj said.

"Doctors attending to Madiba are satisfied that the former president suffered no harm during this period."

Why did we have to find this out from CBS? Why couldn't the Mac and his henchmen at the Presidency not have told us first hand? Or are they such wallys that they think it is something that could just be swept under a rug? Poor show! Really poor.

Thats just fckin unacceptable.

Why must all the damn taxpayer money be funneled into Nkandla instead of this? (Or even other ambulances - Imagine - functional health care equipment)

Instead they just happily run infrastructure, vehicles and equipment into the ground. Probably no maintenance or replacement programmes either. Just makes the country look more like a banana republic... and that with the country's most recognised statesman.
