Nah, not really. The CHOICECHOICES thing has been talked up a bit more than it's worth, really. There are only a few things moving over from the first game. If you start a new game in ME2, it assumes the following (and you can extrapolate from this list what information is coming over from ME1):

Male shep - Ash alive, Fem shep - Kaiden alive
Rachnai queen dead
Wrex killed
Council killed
Udina on the council
No romance
News report done well

Ashley live, Kaiden died.
Wrex lived. Kept the Council, and made that former guy in charge of shepard the guy to put on the council for humans.

Helped the fan guy @ the Citadel.
Scanned all the Keepers.

The rest of the choices made in the first one are defaulted. Those choices u named there are the ones that sculpt the main quest. But the little thinks like the Rachni or saving/killing the colonists on Feros, all those little things will carry over and pop up in your game based on the decision you made. So yes its not going to drastically change the story but it will make the universe feel that much more your own.

Wrex, Garrus, Tali where my faves. Liara was cute but a bit meh. Ashley was deep but too grr for my tastes sometimes and Alenko i just hated. I dunno why i just did.

On that note i did enjoy the romance with Ashley more than with Liara.
 
lol yeh, I made sure that implant freak died as soon as I could allow it. he was really annoying with his broody nature :-/
I really liked Wrex though
 
Well i think Garrus and Tali are going to be my companions though most of the second one. Although Thane and Grunt also interest me.
 
it's just something about him when you hit up that first conversation with the guy...
