Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC may disappoint

Well anyone who just felt the endings were kinda meh but didn't really care either way will probably be happy about the extended cut.

The people (like me) who felt the endings were contra to everything Mass Effect and were holding on to hope that the Indoctrination theory was correct will be very unhappy.

As said in the comments section, I don't see this fixing anything.

Personally, I like to pretend ME3 never happened. ME1 was great, ME2 was perfect... ME3? No idea what happened there. I'm just going to blame Jennifer Hepler--the same person who took over and gave us Anders in Dragon Age 2--for it :p

You could definitely feel that the lead writer had departed since the tone of the games changed so dramatically.

Yeah, definitely.

You could especially tell it with Anders though. The Anders from Awakening was nowhere NEAR as fucked up as "OMG GHEI SEX NAO!" Anders in Dragon Age 2.

I actually looked it up and yep: two different writers were responsible. Needless to say, I liked original Anders way the fuck more.

P.S. Excuse the expletives. I'm still trying to find one thing that Hepler did well :p

I'll give them a chance. See what they come up with. Not like their name can get any worse so they've got nothing to loose

I actually just finished Mass Effect 3 again this weekend - and I pretty much just ignored the last 10 minutes and treated the game in its entirety as the end. Because that's really what it is.

I'll watch the additional content with interest, but it's already over.

It's still a great game - I'm not going to be miffed and let the last 10 minutes spoil the rest of what was an excellent game.

Exactly how I feel.

Though to be perfectly fair, I was one of the first people to rant and rave about it. So I do understand the upset - but hey, got over it. The second play-through really does let you appreciate it a bit more, mostly because you're not building yourself up for that fail at the end.

Sort of take it for what it is.

Very true... I also finished a second playthrough this weekend and I couldn't have been bothered with the last 10 minutes this time around. Minus those 10 minutes and you've got a brilliant experience.

After completing the game the first time, I actually went online and read the original leaked ending (by the previous writer) and the ending was more or less the same as far as I can remember, but with a little more clarity. That ending would have actually been fine if they hadn't fed us all the BS about our choices affecting the ending. Had they marketed this game like any other game and didn't put so much emphasis on the save games transfer and choices affecting the game and ending, they would not have nearly as much negative and extreme feedback as they currently have. Even if they somehow removed that quick choice at the end of the game to have it somehow locked in based on your decisions thus far, that would also have dampen the critics... but that quick choice at the end though of "choose your own ending" similar to Deus Ex, is basically an insult to this game.

Besides the last 10 minutes, I was kind of disappointed with the impact that some of the choices in the previous games had. It has been a while since I've touched ME3 so I cannot remember everything, but the Rachni for example... Same gameplay regardless of your decision... they simply added some dialogue to explain how the heck the Rachni got there after being destroyed.
With ME2, you probably had to do at least 5 or more playthroughs to get most of the combinations of choices. In ME3, I've done 1.5 playthroughs and I think I've covered most of it.
The 0.5 playthrough I've stopped just before the Cerberus mission... I couldn't stomach playing through all that last part again knowing that it is exactly the same as before... So I'm exactly where they recommend we start playing the game from for the new DLC.

Yeah if you can't just go to the new ending then I would rather just watch it on youtube than play through it again.
