Mechanical KB Switches

When it comes to Cherry MX switches, browns are my favourite. However, on a trip to the States earlier this year I bought myself this beautiful beast:

A Unicomp Two-Tone Ultra Classic Model M.

Unicomp has the license from IBM to make Model M keyboards using buckling spring switches. It is the greatest keyboard I have ever owned.

This very much look like the keyboard used by bond market traders' (and desktop support staff) at Citibank, Canary Wharf London). Back in the day (2005).
They where EXTREMELY expensive !

I own the Corsair Strafe K65 RGB (mechanical) keyboard and have never used anything else except for keyboards from my 1980's and 1990's days. As I've never used other color switches (Cherry blue, brown, black etc) I wouldn't know the difference. Back in the 1980's and 1990's I had mechanical keyboards, they keyboards where real heavy, probably several kilograms.

Yes! You might be remembering the 120 key Model M. You can buy Unicomp versions of them too, I think.

Man I used to love Chicony's keyboards from back then. Not sure which switches they used, but from the clicky sound I remember it must have been the precursor to the Cherry MX switches we see in most mechanical keyboards today.

I wonder if my old SGI keyboard is at my parents place still... This was my first clicky keyboard I got back in 2001.
