Mechanical keyboard buying help...

That's interesting...since you can still pick up those old mechanical keyboards from the 80's on e-bay and they good to go :)

Guess they just don't make 'em like they used to...I'm happy with my (2nd hand even) Razer BlackWidow though:, good luck to OP with your purchase, mechanical is definately the way to go :)

Yip I know, and they sure as hell don't make them like they used too.
Its funny you mention the black widow....my 1st mech board rma was a blackwidow ultimate which had issues with 2 of its keys not working anymore.
 
Hey the joker. Purple fly trading is a well known and trusted store. I got prices of pricecheck and that's how I found such good prices.

I am putting my budget at R1400 max as I am getting R1000 for Christmas.

K70 I think comes with brown. I'm going to get the k70.

I've never done business with them, non of my friends,family or clients have either.

Brown switches, the 710+ isn't bad..I just think Logitech took a shortcut with that board...took a 8 year old design and stuck mech keys on it.

I think I am pretty popular..not sure lol

Yeah please stay away from Purple Fly Trading, even were they the cheapest prices in the world, its not enough to justify the crap you'd have to deal with. Scum of the earth unfortunately :/

The K70's price dropped then, because I was looking to get one, but when I was browsing for keyboards (this is beginning of the year about) I saw them going for about R1800 or so. That is why I ended up getting the G710+, because it was R1300. Sucks, I wanted the K70 :(

Neah bud, the G710+ is an excellent board, I just don't get why they used the same design as the old G710.
K70 is around R1700.

Don't get me wrong, I love my G710+. It's nice and compact, has a few macro keys (I don't want more than 6) and very comfortable. The aluminium design of the K70 is just much more beautiful though.

I thought the K70 was cheaper now according to what Lethal was saying. Oh well, may my keyboard live long :)
 
See I could get a k70 if I import and it will cost a little less but like you said it can be a pain when sending it back.

Hey. I'm totally not convinced about the logitech board even though it has so much to offer.

I cannot afford a k70 from corsair which I like because of its minimalistic design and th3 k60 does not have full mechanical.

I like the cooler Master ultimate cherry brown but don't know what is like. If anyone knows a good mechanical board with media keys but minimalistic design let me know.

I like the g710+ but find it looks cramped due to do many extra macro keys and stuff.

CM Storm QuickFire XT - Uses Function + F5-f8 for media keys.
