MegaUpload Shut Down

My thoughts is that Hollywood is not moving with the market and that a gap is made that mega upload is trying to fill.

And just for future reference I dont think any one of us have any idea what a Police State really is like, the USA has many freedoms, more so than alot of people, a fact which simply wouldn't be if it was, as you say, a "Police State"

Whatever freedoms may still exist western governments are working hard to take them away. Governments love to dictate and control people's lives, so they have a natural tendency toward totalitarianism unless stopped. The cleverest way is to remove liberty gradually, so people don't notice. Fear is a good way to push them into offering to give up liberties. Any country that has widespread surveillance, expanding police powers and increasing interference with individual autonomy is heading towards becoming a police state.

The MegaUpload was shutdown due to copyright infringement issues. What has that got to do with controlling the media? Therefore it has no bearing on this discussion which is, just for the uninitiated, is about copyright not about the effects of SOPA/PIPPA/ACTA.

You people wouldn't know a police state if it locked you up and euthanized your family. Fear and Paranoia does does alot more harm.

This was an attack on a website, it affects everyone, no matter where in the world you're located
 
Although sad news about Megaupload - it doesn't really affect me as I don't use that website. However if Fileserve and Filesonic follow suite, I may have a problem.

FileServe has re-enabled sharing functionality and FileSonic still has sharing disabled, although it may soon follow FileServe by enabling sharing again. Neither of the sites have been taken down, so not sure what you are talking about there.
 
Sucks that this happend. Megaupload links stayed online for long. Had a megaupload account :( but wasnt a real loss got alot of stuff of there.
Also a filesonic account which im really hoping they activate again. down to using rapidshare and hotfile account. :(
