IGN put the article up a bit too early. It's been removed now, but the damage has already been done. Was meant to be announced tomorrow. I'm disappointed that it's not launching on the V/V/201V. It's actually quite funny, the game takes place in 1984. 1/9 (1 September) 84. He's given us the release date all along. :p

01.09.2015 is exactly 5 months from 01.04.2015 aka April First. 5 months... 5... V... MGSV. :wtf:

Coming 1984

1 / 9 / 84

1st of the 9th

Kojima, the ultimate troll.

Honestly, he really is. He enjoys it, too.

He said that he plans on leaving the MGS series after V. I'm pretty sure he's said the same thing before, but then again, he is also in charge of the Silent Hill reboot thing as well, so maybe this time he means it.

It'll be interesting to see what he does after MGSV. The game looks really good, I get the sense that he means it when he says that this is the game he's always wanted to make.

I hope they bring the entire series, in a similar vain to the Legacy Collection for the PS3 (MG1-2, and MGS1-4, including Twin Snakes because it was good) to PC, PS4 and Xbone. I think PC needs it the most, seeing as how we ever only got two of those titles. Plus, I think the games are good enough to deserve to remain playable on modern hardware.

Number V is the final piece in the whole series, and the game that will connect all other games together, since IV was the ending of the series. I can also understand his reasons why he wants to come to a conclusion.

The Metal Gear story has been running from 1964 to 2018 and the games have been going since 1987. That is 28 years which is a long way for such a well known franchise. Picked up the MGS HD Collection for my Vita so going to have a trip down memory lane again, also want to get hold of portable op's and Peace Walker as 3, and those two come before V if you are playing in chronological order.

PC release date is September 15th. A two week delay, not terrible I guess. What I am disappointed about is that there's apparently no physcial release for PC, which is strange. There was one for Ground Zeroes in the UK and surrounding regions. I ordered mine on Monday from Raru.

Here's what the PS4|XBone collectors edition looks like. It's priced at £99.99. Honestly, really underwhelming. The hand is cool, but the steelbook and dvd/bluray case artwork is terrible. Konami, use Yoji Shinkawa, please! His artwork is fantastic.

Konami, the masters of underutilising talent.

EDIT: Custom PS4 as well:

Yeah the collector's edition is slightly disappointing. This is coming from a huge MGS fan.
Think I'll just get the Day 1 edition.

Took a guy on Neogaf 10 minutes. This cover art looks amazing! Also, what is with this trend of having Day 1 or Launch Day Edition being printed on the game cover? I don't like it, we usually have enough junk and stickers on it as is.

Please let there be reversible cover art... Please let there be reversible cover art... Please let there be reversible cover art...

Is this really the last entry into the series? It's been chugging along ever since the 80's.
The series ended in MGS4 but I mean Kojima can add a large amount of games between the start and end of the canon if he really wanted to.

Where actually does this fit in the MGS timeline?

Also Tactical Espionage Operation from Action?

It's the 5th game in the series.

1964 – Snake Eater
1970 – Portable Ops
1974 – Peace Walker
1975 – Ground Zeroes
1984 – The Phantom Pain
1995 – Metal Gear
1999 – Solid Snake
2005 – Metal Gear Solid
2007/09 – Sons of Liberty
2014 – Guns of the Patriots
2018 – Rising: Revengeance

Tactical Espionage Operations has been it's subheading since Metal Gear Solid. He is working on silent hills now so I think we can expect great things from that.

MGS1-4 had Tactical Espionage Action as heading. Ground Zeroes was the first game to use Operations instead of Action.

Peace Walker has operations as well.

I just don't know what the difference between these two are as nothing really changes in the way you play.

The game has been delayed until September 15 for PC. Also it will retail at £59.99...not sure how I feel about R1000 for a PC game
