Dem bears. Fuckit.

7 shots to the skull and the thing still comes over and slaps me like an old fish.

YEAH! I learnt that the hard way as well. In the end I just stood up on a rock while it ran round and round me :p

Do you like cheese much?

The first time I encountered a bear I was in a jeep so I would climb out tranq it then when he charges back in the jeep, took about 10 shots and I ballooned the sucker back to base.

I think I have all the facility types unlocked with most at level 2. I'm finding the base management part making the game even more addicting as I'm always looking for better recruits in the field and fultonning out as many as I can. :D

I've watched a couple videos, but I'm still not sure what the base is for and the point of getting more recruits. Does the base get attacked?

Just one example . . . the bionic arm can be upgraded to fire rockets later on. Thats assuming you've added a research facility to your base and raised it to the level required.

Besides that you need recruits to deploy for assignments that rewards you with extra money as well.

Talking about birds. Are they collectible as well? I tried tranqing a bird or two but they all over the damn place.

Yes, just keep your eyes open. They do perch on a lamp post or wall or something.

Yes, come October. You have and develop your FOB (Forward Operating Base) which when playing online people will be able to invade each others bases and compete.

I'm personally not sold on this, for me this is an offline single player game.

That sounds cool, didn't know there was any multiplayer aspect planned for Metal Gear

I assume its a little more detailed than assassins creeds sending recruits on missions?

Hahahaa! Thats brilliant! Two birds with one stone.

Yeah all animals are collectible, the smaller ones you can just pick up like plants, if you've knocked them out.

Spoiler: show
You also get deploy-able traps for small animals later on, which are collected by your staff. They catch a lot of birds and rats and so on

If you don't expand your base you'll never be able to get all the good upgrades for your equipment.

Yes exactly similar to AC. You create teams, choose a mission and decide based on a possible success rate, you deploy your team. Not really that much detail tbh.

I actually prefer it that way. I'm not too into the micro-management of my base. I just auto assign everybody and let it do it's thing. I don't get too caught up in it, seems rather time consuming. Also, it gives me something to do while listening to cassettes.

Grievous - I thought you were referring to the FOB from a online aspect, but it is a very useful [-]feature[/-] requirement in single player (offline) as 'Soup has pointed out. But again, read above. You could spend hours micro-managing your staff.

Ye I totally agree with you. I'm happy with it as it is. Its easy and quite simple. I just wait for the money to roll in :D

The base is used to produce new toys as well as upgrading gear and weapons. So upgrading the base is important if you want improvements or new gear.

You must make sure to weed out trouble makers in the various departments, you don't want to loose people because of fighting and sicknesses.

How do you know who the trouble makers are? I'm getting a lot of fights breaking out at the moment.

When you look at the staff in the departments they have a circle icon also you can balance them out by having equal numbers of them in a division.I always check it you don't want to loose your best staff you can also dismiss them.
