Developed by Krome Studios, Game Room replicates the old-school look, sound, and feel of a retro video game Arcade. As of today, the free to download application will bring a library of 30 original arcade and console classics from Activision, Atari, Intellivision and Konami among others.
Microsoft promises to release new title releases (prices ranging from 240 to 400 MS Points) every week.
For 400 MSP ($5), players would be granted with a special license that would allow them to play their purchased classic games through a virtual cabinet on both the Xbox 360 and PC. Owning a cabinet on one platform would cost 240 MSP ($3) while 40 MSP ($0.50) would give players the option to play a single game, just like dropping two quarters in the slot in the old arcades.
Game Room concludes the Xbox Live Block Party promotion. Remember, if you have purchased all three Block Party titles (Perfect Dark, Scrap Metal and Toy Soldiers) and downloaded the free Game Room app, you’ll receive 400 Microsoft Points back to your account an extra month of Xbox Live if you are a current GOLD member.
