Actually, with the way Sony is going with backward capability of PS1 and PS2 games and the rumours of PS3 also in the works this might be a good idea. If you've got a PS4 and don't need a PS3 anymore why not trade in your PS3?
Not that it matters for us anyway. We haven't even got the XBone in the country yet.
i always wonder what they do with these traded in consoles
Seems to me that they just trying to entice people to swap from PS to X-box without the price being an issue...
Cause the compatibility they are refering to are that of digital games, most likely,as the laser in the PS4 cannot read ps1/2/3 discs.
So....you would probably have to buy the games online onto ur hdd, unles they do what they did with COD Ghosts.
Either way I'm keeping my ps3 as there are games on there that won't likey come to ps4.
There is a rumour that Sony is working on an emulation program for ps4.http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-ps1-ps2-games-heading-to-ps4blu ray lasers are backwards compatible ! the problem why there is no backward compatibility in the ps4 is there is no native hardware inside the console to play the older games ! the ps2 had a fully functional ps1 processor inside to maintain bc ! some very first gen ps3's had the emotion engine and was too expensive ! sony included software emulation on the later model but it wasnt even half as good as
the original launch models. Sony didnt include an emulator or any native processors from previous consoles in the design of the ps4 hence the reason why it has no backward compatibility
