Microsoft to put Kinect into laptops

This just seems like logical progression to me; and if this kicks off, why not take it to the next level and bash it into smartphones? AND TOASTERS.

Now THAT's innovation.

The one thing I am sure will get integrated soon is avatar video conferencing, especially with them owning Skype. Basically Kinetic can read your facial expressions and send them through to your Avatar which would be a picture and effectively a relief map of your face with all the possible movement variables programmed. The only data that will need to be transferred will be the bits that relate to specific movements, therefore reduced load.

Now imagine this for your full body with a hologram projector...

Interestingly enough, I read in the Popular Mechanics a while ago that engineering students in the States incorporated the Kinect into a concept house design as part of their entry into a competition.

Kinect devices would be placed into every room and run off of a centralised command system which would recognise commands and act upon them, eg. turning electrical appliances on and off (also controlling things like channels displayed and volume levels) and closing motorised blinds.
