Might and Magic Heroes 6

I tried playing other heroes games. I tried a few. But heroes had a certain charm to them.

Is it me or is the might "spells" better than the magic spells.

So true buddy. You cannot be a damage dealing mage, only summoner or either buffing/weakening.
All creatures now have a resistance to magic in this one, untill they make do with them nerfing damage spells, then it would be viable to be a damage dealing mage, the best spell in terms of damage dealing is in the "Air" school they do the best.
They are good in early game, but not that in late.
I feel you on that too.
 
Did my first duel online - Sanctuary magic vs Sanctuary Magic(me)
and i lost, lol!!! was a good match though, Retribution aura order is good to have, worked against me lol!
I think i need to do more of those matches, The ai is so stupid compared to human players.

Yeah dude I so totally kicked your ass in that one lol. :D
But might is better then magic with every faction, as far as I know in the next patch they are wanting to balance them more.

lol!!! Can't say for that hay, you do get buffs and debuffs, and summoning , dont forget about the healing variety. There you may cast more and more, plus stronger versions. I would say, sometimes ;-) heehee
 
Really want to pick this up soon. Hugest fan of the genre. heroes 1 was one of the 1st games i ever played. Heroes 3 was one of the best games I ever played. And this one is looking very nice I must say. Whats the online multiplayer like? Saw a few mentions in the above posts but how exactly does Dueling work?

Welcome aboard heehee, but then it seems you are a veteren, lol.
Ived only started with heroes 5, and loved it, seems i need to get myself the rest, especially heroes 3.
Multiplayer duels are when you and your opponent face off in an instant battle with creatures straight away.
You basically select your heroes you have in your dynasty. Before that in your dynasty you can already level up your heroes to level 30 and select appropriate skills for battle and dynasty traits and weapons, and if you are going to be online, Dynasty weapons are going to keep you very busy leveling them up, and dynasty lol.
Its pretty awesome, let me know once u have it, we can have a duel sometime.
Good advice go onto to the official forums and read up upon lots of discussions, you wont regret it.

Wow, sounds awesome. Gona have to start looking around for copy! Really glad HOMM has stepped into the online multiplayer era! :-D will give you a shout once I've got the game.

As far as I know HOMM5 was also online capable? Not sure, been a while since I played that one.

hey dude, do you ever have a problem with the scrolling locking so that you cannot move around the map by moving your mouse to the edge of the screen. The only way to then move around is to use middle click?

Nope. Never had a problem, only happened to me once,when i played the demo but not the full Game.

I purchased The Deluxe Edition for R600, only managed to receive the week there after, some dude couldn't make it in enough time @ BT Games, and luckily i asked if they had it :-D.
For me it was well worth the price.

Its a known problem, have read that somewhere on the official forums.
Check on there, maybe they have a solution for it.

Don't think there is a work around, I think it is a bug in the game so I think the only way to fix it would be to get a patch. Just wonder when that will happen.
 
Ok so Patch 1.2 has been announced and will be heading out before the end of the year.

• Major bug fixes (Week of the Plague, Dynasty weapons, unit abilities, scripts, localization)



• Skirmish AI tweaks:

- Tries to defend all owned town (previously the AI focused on its starting town)

- Previously if a hero stronger then the AI's hero threatened a town, the AI hero let that town undefended. Now the AI calculates all of its nearby hero's army and creature growth and defends the town if it finds it possible

- Always defends the last owned town if it can causes reasonable losses to the attacker hero

- Huge speed improvement, AI thinking is approximately 2-3 times faster than in the previous version

- Further improvement of cooperation among primary and secondary heroes

- Improved exploration and target priority

- Pre-calculated army contraction. The AI calculates how many creatures can the target collect (including possible creature growth) before the AI's hero can reach it and calculates if it is worth to chase it.

- Further improvement of Town portal usage

- In case of an FFA the AI tries to attack and capture towns from a weaker player

- FIXED: Sometimes the AI attacked a much stronger hero than itself

- FIXED: Sometimes without reason the AI split its army into 2 and lost against a stronger hero

- FIXED: Sometimes the AI miscalculated the cost of a town portal and spent too much points before trying to use it (resulting an undefended town)

- FIXED: The AI ignored some neutral buildings

- FIXED: Several smaller bug fixes



• Combat AI tweaks:

- General target choice improvement for the units

- Improved ability usage

- Improved racial ability usage

- Improved ability selection and different builds for Magic/Might, Tears/Blood heroes

- Improved creature ability usage



• Gameplay improvements:

- The unit setup after using the Tactics ability is remembered from battle to battle



• Intel support:

- Fog calculation

- Variance shadow mapping vs. hardware shadow mapping

• Balance tweaks:

- Rage II-IV gives +10 Might Attack instead of +15

- Rage points generated by attacks reduced to 16(friendly)/8(enemy) (from 20/10)

- Guardian Angel: Good moral gives 70 racial points (instead of 100)

- Retribution aura cooldown increased to 5 instead of 3

- Haste initiative bonus increased to 12 (from 10)

- Slow initiative reduction increased to 12 (from 10)

- Mass Haste initiative bonus increased to 6 (from 5)

- Mass Slow initiative reduction increased to 6 (from 5)

- Father Sky damage increased to 380 (from 353)

- Idol of Air damage increased to 276/318/366 (from 240/277/319)

- Martyr Might Resistance and Health bonus reduced to +10.8%/12.4%/14.3% (from +21.6%,24.9%,28.6% Might Resistance, +13%,15%,17% Health)

- Hour of Judgement bonus damage increased to 31% (from 21%)

- Hell Hound Might Defense increased to 5 (from 4)

- Cerberus Might Defense increased to 6 (from 4)

- Kirin and Sacred Kirin movement reduced to 6 (from 7)

- Kirin Magic Defense increased to 33 (from 32)

- Sacred Kirin Might Defense reduced to 31 (from 33)

- Sacred Kirin Magic Defense reduced to 33 (from 35)
