Was actually just curious to see how many people play it (il)legitimately and how many people don't or are indifferent to it.

Started playing it a three days ago just to give it a fair shot and oddly, I quite like it. Ended up buying it today.

The multiplayer aspect is pretty enjoyable and it's interesting building things as well as how many things you're actually able to construct. I mean, it's a lot like playing Lego all over again and, well, we all know how awesome Lego is :D

So vote on the poll, tell me what aspects you like most and how you spend your time in Minecraft or alternatively what you find unappealing :)

My vote doesn't quite fit into the poll. No, I haven't played it, but I saw it being played (multiplayer?) this weekend and it looks quite interesting. I know it's in beta but I've heard many people complaining of bugs and the like. I'll probably wait until It's officially released before I get it for my sisters and myself. I don't like paying to test something...

I knew I left out an option: No, but I'm interested :p Sorry... :o Maybe one of the mods can add it in?

I can't say I've noticed any bugs, actually. Some minor "quirks" like water not quite filling spaces the way you'd expect but otherwise not a thing.

I quite like it :D

The price goes up once it's released. You can buy it from www.minecraft.net.

For what it's worth, I bought two copies when it was still alpha (one for me, one for my kids).

No thanks, I've already got a game that is addictive to waste my time, and I can't see minecraft replacing it..

THe amount of mods that are out there for minecraft make it so worth it! This game is getting indie game of the year from almost every e-mag and website out there so I think this is one of the games you must buy. Even your kids can play it. And there this teacher in America who teaches children life skills by making them play minecraft... How insane is that?

I'll also maybe get it when it's a final release. It looks interesting but it just doesn't look like something that I'll enjoy. Maybe one day.

Haven't played it. Reality is that I am so addicted to time spent in the Caverns (SC2) that I just about do not do any other gaming. Last year I bought at least 2 games I can remember, but haven't touched them yet.

I don't get it. why would I play something I played in 1993?

Silly question. Why would you bother doing anything? Why listen to music from anything before 1990? Why read literature, watch movies, series or anything from before the 1990s?

Very silly, very one-dimensional and very ignorant (albeit rhetorical) question.

But fine, I'll answer for the hell of it: because it's fun

Fun??????

How much did you spend on your PC again? To run... what... Minecraft... and have fun? I'd rather go build sandcastles and fly kites wearing nothing but a thong in the dead of winter than to say Minecraft is fun because those activities are ACTUALLY fun...

The word that obviously escapes you is subjectivity. Look it up.

The Mona Lisa is over 400 years old, yet it is still appreciated as a work of art and is appreciated by countless people the world over.

Duke Nukem 3D
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magic Obscura
The Icewind Dale series
Planescape
The Commander Keen series
The Fallout series

These are just a few pre-2000 games that I own, that I still play once in a while and that I still enjoy. The very fact that their age is reason enough for you to dismiss them shows a decided lack of experience, articulation and prudence as, if nothing else, a gamer.

Or, simply put: your loss; not mine.

I'm with Lycan on this one. I would still play Sonic 1 or any old game if I really wanted to. I appreciate old games, because if it wasn't for them Crysis 2 would look like Mario. Though you can mod Minecraft that it looks wonderful. Minecraft would ultimately look better if it wasn't coded on Java. Imagine DX11 on Minecraft... Just saying...

I'm pretty sure they might just upgrade to a new engine before they release... the game is way too CPU intensive and it'll slow down even the fastest computers you get... depending on what you do in game. :p

i just never saw the appeal. i played it about a year ago and got bored. then it became this big thing and i never tried it again.

I tried out the Minecraft classic and it was quite amazing what people were doing with it in multiplayer, I haven't bought or played the (alpha, beta) also because I'm afraid I'd spend waaaay to much time on it, and gaming time is slim these days
